Duke Power Company, LLC d/b/a Duke Energy Carolinas, LLC Oconee Nuclear Site, Units 1, 2, and 3 Docket Numbers 50-269, 50-270, and 50-287 NFPA 805 "Pilot Plant" Transition Project Attached to this letter is the proposed "draft" template for a License Amendment Request (LAR) to Adopt NFPA 805 Performance-Based Standard for Fire Protection for Light Water Reactor Generating Plants (2001 Edition) for Oconee Nuclear Site ONS).
This document is provided as part of ONS participation as an industry "pilot plant" and is provided in advance of the November 2008 NRC pilot plant meetings in which the topic of LARs to implement NFPA 805 will be discussed. The attached document is provided to communicate the proposed structure and content of the planned LAR that is currently scheduled for submittal by May 31, 2008. The contents of this document are subject to change as the NFPA 805 pilot initiative progresses.
The enclosure to this letter is requested to be handled as "Sensitive Information -
Withhold from Public Disclosure under 10 CFR 2.390(d)(1)". This request is consistent with "pilot plant" process for communications of information that could reveal plant vulnerabilities due to fire.
There are no commitments being made as a result of this submittal.
