U Application Guide Surface Preparation In Pra-Prime 167 Sealer Is designed for less than Ideal surface preparatio. However. performance will be Improved as surface preartion Improves- Al ollgrease contaminants, loose rust, loose scale and unsecured old paint must be Q

removed.

Best peromanc wil be obtained bytreating an surfaces with Devprepe e8 eaner, followed by a high pressure water wash before applying Pre-Prime 167 Sealer.

Mixing and Thinning Pre-Puime 167 Sealer Is a two component product supplied in 4 Gallon and 1 Gallon kits which contain the proper I ratio of ingredients. The entire contents of each container must be mixed together.

Add the convertor portion to the base portion slowly with continued agitation. After the convertor add is complete.

Higher temperatures will reduce working life of the coating; lower temperatures will Increase IL U, Application Provide good. thorough ventlatio.

Appiy Pre-Prume 167 Sealer by conventional air spray, brush or roller. Arless spray Is not recommended. To minimize Ir overspray, use low air pressure and pot pressure-5 to 10 PSI.

Pre-Prime 167 Sealer Is low In viscosity. It should be applied in one thin, wet coat suffi*ilent to completely cover and I penetrate to the steel surface. Do not apply heavy coats Clean up application equipment with Devoe T-10 Thinner.

Apply one coat of Pro-Prime 167 Sealer at 1-112 mils-allow overnight cure. An additional coat of Pre-Prime 167 Sealer may be required for very porous surfaces. After overnight cme. Pre-Prime 167 Sealer may be overcoated II I stiltaicky.

Pro-Prime 167 Sealer Isnormally topcoated with Bar-Rust 23S or Bar-Rust 236 Coating. Consult your Devoe Coatings Representative for alternatives.

Application Guide Surface Pre-aration All surfaces must be free of oil, grease Salt and moisture before abrasive blasting to near whiite metal equivalent to Steel Structures be 2 miOs Painting (50 micons) Council In dlepth and SP10 be oforaSwedish nature as Sa lagged Standard 2-1/2. The opposed to a minimum profile after steelSurfaces peen pattern. mustblasting be tree should of grit dust.

The first coa of the system should be applied to cleanedsurfaces as soon as possible to prevent rerusting or contannation.

S " .Ventilation Although Devran 184 Coating Is soNventless. good ventilation with dry air Isrequired for the protection d the applicator. to prevent condensation and to obtain proper coating performance, Ventilation should be maintained throughout the cure period. Be sure the air Inthe lowest areas Is constantly replaced with fresh, dry air.

i .Mixing and Thinning Dev-an 164 Coating Isa two component product supplied In4 Gallon kits which contain the proper ratio of Ingredients. The entire contents of each container must be mixed together.

Mix the base portion slowly for several minutes. After mixing the base portion, add the convertor slowly with continued agttion. After the convertor add Iscomplete, continue to mix slowly until the system Is homogeneous.

U Thinning Is not norrally required. At lower temperatures, efforts should be made to bring the coating to 77"F.

The pot life of the mixed material Is2 hours2.314815e-5 days
5.555556e-4 hours
3.306878e-6 weeks
7.61e-7 months
at 77"F (25C). Higher temperatures will reduce working life of the coating;

.lower temperatures will Increase IL Application I Ale.Mss spray is recommended. Where aliress equipment Is used, a 45 to I pump and .023" to .029" tip size will provide a good spray pattern. Ideally, fluid hoses should not be less than 3/8" IDand not longer than 50 feet to obtain optirnum results.

Devran 164 Coating can also be applied to floors or decks wM a spreader or squeegee.

A minimum of four days cure with ventilation at temperatures above 77F (259C) should be allowed before tank linings are put Into cargo service. Longer curing times with ventilation are required Iftemperatures are lower than 77TF.

Do not allow coating to remain Inthe application equipment longer than 2 hours2.314815e-5 days
5.555556e-4 hours
3.306878e-6 weeks
7.61e-7 months
, Flush out an application equipment whenever there is adelay inapplication.
