ARKANSAS NUCLEAR ONE, UNIT 1 - CLOSURE OF CONFIRMATORY ACTION LETTER NRR-07-010 (TAC NO. MD4130)
Dear Mr. Mitchell:
On March 29, 2007, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) issued Confirmatory Action Letter (CAL) No. NRR-07-010 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession No. ML070780094) regarding dissimilar metal welds in the pressurizer at Arkansas Nuclear One, Unit 1 (ANO-1). This letter acknowledges receipt of your letters dated May 22, 2007 and June 27, 2007 (ADAMS Accession No. ML072420397 and ML071870335, respectively), informing the NRC of actions taken in response to this CAL.
In your letters, you provided the inspection results of the weld overlays applied to the pressurizer surge nozzle weld, the pressurizer spray nozzle weld and the associated safe-end to pipe weld, and the three safety/relief nozzle welds at ANO-1.
Based on your letters, the NRC has found that all the commitments listed in the CAL and supporting commitment letter (ADAMS Accession No. ML070610349) have been met. No further response is required regarding the CAL. We consider the CAL closed. As such, it is no longer necessary to implement enhanced inspection and leakage monitoring requirements for the reactor coolant system. This completes NRC staff action for TAC No. MD4130.
