Revision of Rod Worth Minimizer Required Action During Startup - Technical Specification 3.3.2.1 (b) Letter from M. J. David (NRC) to T. J. O'Connor (NMPNS), dated June 21, 2007, Request for Additional Information Regarding Nine Mile Point Nuclear Station, Unit No. 2, Revision of Rod Worth Minimizer Required Action During Startup (TAC No. MD2874)

By letter dated August 11, 2006 (Reference a), Nine Mile Point Nuclear Station, LLC (NMPNS) requested an amendment to Nine Mile Point Unit 2 (NMP2) Renewed Operating License NPF-69. The proposed amendment would have revised Technical Specification 3.3.2.1, "Control Rod Block Instrumentation," to change the number of startups allowed with the rod worth minimizer (RWM) inoperable from one per calendar year to two per operating cycle (approximately two years).

By letter dated June 21, 2007 (Reference b), the NRC transmitted a request for additional information (RAI) regarding the subject license amendment request. Based on recent discussions with the NRC staff concerning this RAI, NMPNS has decided to withdraw the license amendment request submitted in Reference (a).
