SUMMARY
OF MAY 23, 2007, CATEGORY 1, MEETING WITH TXU GENERATION COMPANY LP TO DISCUSS THE PLANS FOR METHODOLOGY TRANSITION AND POWER UPRATE On May 23, 2007, a Category 1 public meeting was held between the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), and representatives of TXU Generation Company LP (licensee), at the Hyatt Regency Bethesda Hotel, One Bethesda Metro Center (7400 Wisconsin Ave.), Bethesda, Maryland, 20814. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss licensees plans to replace current accident analysis methodologies with Westinghouses NRC-approved safety analyses methodologies and assumptions (morning session), and plans for the forthcoming submittal of the power uprate application (afternoon session). Enclosure 1 is a list of meeting attendees (ADAMS Accession Number ML072000505).
During the morning session, the licensee stated that prior to 2006, its design and safety analysis organizations performed in-house safety analyses, using vendor-independent methods. Since May 2006, TXU Generation Company LP transferred the in-house safety analyses, and risk and reliability analyses functions to Westinghouse Electric Company. provides a copy of the licensees slides presented at the morning session of the meeting (ADAMS Accession Number ML072010174).
In the afternoon session, the licensee discussed its plans for submitting the stretch power application. The purpose of the licensees presentation was to facilitate NRCs allocation of review staff resources. Enclosure 3 is a copy of the licensees slides presented at the afternoon session of the meeting (ADAMS Accession Number ML072010170), outlining its plans for the forthcoming stretch power application submittal.
Members of the public were not in attendance. Meeting attendees did not submit completed Public Meeting Feedback forms.
