RECEIPT AND AVAILABILITY OF THE LICENSE RENEWAL APPLICATION FOR THE VOGTLE ELECTRIC GENERATING PLANT, UNITS 1 AND 2
Dear Mr. Tynan:
On June 29, 2007, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) received the Southern Nuclear Operating Company, Inc.s application for renewal of operating licenses NPF-68 and NPF-81 for the Vogtle Electric Generating Plant, Units 1 and 2. We are currently performing an acceptance review for docketing in accordance with the requirements of Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations Section 2.101 (10 CFR 2.101), and will notify you of the results of our review. Should the NRC staff determine that the application is acceptable for docketing, a schedule for the review will then be provided to you.
We have enclosed for your information a copy of the notice relating to your application that is being sent to the Office of the Federal Register for publication.
I am pleased to announce the appointment of Donnie J. Ashley as the Project Manager for the Safety Review, and Justin P. Leous as the Project Manager for the Environmental Review of your license renewal application. Please forward copies of all license renewal correspondence to Mr. Ashley. Balwant K. Singal continues to remain responsible for the project management of all issues other than license renewal for Vogtle Electric Generating Plant, Units 1 and 2.
