Dear Mr. Tynan:

On June 29, 2007, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) received the SouthernNuclear Operating Company, Inc.'s application for renewal of operating licenses NPF-68 and NPF-81 for the Vogtle Electric Generating Plant, Units 1 and 2. We are currently performing an acceptance review for docketing in accordance with the requirements of Title 10 of the Code ofFederal Regulations Section 2.101 (10 CFR 2.101), and will notify you of the results of ourreview. Should the NRC staff determine that the application is acceptable for docketing, a schedule for the review will then be provided to you.We have enclosed for your information a copy of the notice relating to your application that isbeing sent to the Office of the Federal Register for publication.I am pleased to announce the appointment of Donnie J. Ashley as the Project Manager for theSafety Review, and Justin P. Leous as the Project Manager for the Environmental Review of your license renewal application. Please forward copies of all license renewal correspondenceto Mr. Ashley. Balwant K.
