THREE MILE ISLAND UNIT 1 - COMPLETION OF ACTIVITIES RELATED TO RELIEF REQUEST NO. 2006-TMI-01, USE OF ASME CODE CASE N-659 (TAC NO. MD3170)
Dear Mr. Crane:
By letter dated September 28, 2006 (Agencywide Documents and Access Management System (ADAMS) Accession No. ML062720058), AmerGen Energy Company (the licensee) requested relief from certain American Society of Mechanical Engineers Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code (ASME Code) requirements at Three Mile Island, Unit 1. Specifically, the licensee requested to use an alternative ultrasonic examination method in lieu of the radiographic examination required by the ASME Code,Section III, subarticle NB-5221. By letter dated March 30, 2007, this request was withdrawn (ADAMS Accession No. ML070920336). The licensee now expects to perform this work compliant with ASME code requirements. Based on the withdrawal of this relief request, TAC No. MD3170 is being closed.
