MILLSTONE POWER STATION UNITS 2 AND 3 INSERVICE TESTING AND INSERVICE INSPECTION PROGRAMS 10-YEAR INTERVAL CHANGES The purpose of this letter is to inform the NRC staff of changes in the end date for the Millstone Power Station Units 2 and 3 (MPS2 and MPS3) third and second, respectively, 10-year Inservice Testing (IST) and Inservice Inspection (ISI) intervals. These changes are being made in accordance with Section XI of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, 1989 edition (no Addenda) pursuant to 10 CFR 50.55a(f) and (g).

As specified within ASME IWA-2430 paragraph (d), "Each inspection interval may be reduced or extended by as much as one year. Adjustments shall not cause successive intervals to be altered by more than one year from the original pattern of intervals." The MPS2 and MPS3 IST intervals are being adjusted to the same end date to synchronize and align the MPS2 and MPS3 IST Programs to the same Code Edition and Addenda. The MPS2 and MPS3 ISI intervals are being adjusted to coordinate the performance of required inspections with the dates of scheduled refueling outages.

The end of the MPS2 third 10-year IST interval will be reduced from March 31, 2009 to March 31, 2008, and the end of the MPS3 second 10-year IST interval will be extended from February 6, 2008 to March 31, 2008. The end of the MPS2 third 10-year ISI interval will be extended from March 31, 2009 to March 31, 2010, and the end of the MPS3 second 10-year ISI interval will be extended from October 23, 2008 to April 23, 2009. These adjustments do not cause successive intervals to be altered by more than one year from the original pattern of intervals.
