ARKANSAS NUCLEAR ONE, UNIT 1 - COMMITMENTS AND INFORMATION RELATED TO STEAM GENERATOR DEGRADATION AND CONTINUED PLANT OPERATION

Dear Mr. Mitchell:

This refers to your letter to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) regarding actions to address and compensate for degraded steam generator components during operation of the Arkansas Nuclear One, Unit 1, nuclear plant this cycle. Your letter,1CAN050704, dated May 11, 2007, provides commitments that you and the NRC have deemed necessary in order to support continued operation. In particular, you have committed to additional compensatory measures and to participate in a meeting with NRC management by Fall of 2007 to discuss operational steam generator performance and followup inspection activities during the next refueling outage. Further, we understand that you will provide the NRC staff with the results of your cause analysis of once through steam generator degradation in a correspondence prior to the meeting to discuss the operational steam generator performance.

Based on our review of your commitments, we have no objections to your plans to continue to operate the Arkansas Nuclear One, Unit 1, nuclear plant under the conditions described in your letter. We will continue to evaluate your plans, along with any further information you provide at the aforementioned management meeting.
