April 26. 2007 Mr. Nader Marnish Deputy Director Division ofAPrparedncss & Response Officc of Nuctcar Security and Incident Response MS 060-12 Washington, D.C. 20555

Dear Mr. Mamish,

Previously, The State of South Carolina informed you of our intent to request a re-supply of our state's Potassium Iodide (KI) stockpile from your agency. While we had agreed upon moving forward with the re-supply effort, we had determined there were pieces of specific information, due your agency, our state needed to confirm prior to the finalization of this agreement.

The most important information requiring confirmation was current and projected population increases in the I0-mile Emergency Planning Zones (EPZs) for the nuclear plants operating within the State of South Carolina. Originally, we designated the five existing plants affecting our state: Catawba Nuclear Station, H.B. Robinson, Oconee Nuclear Station, V.C. Summer and Vogtle Electric Generating Plant.

Your agency had requested a breakdown of the KI dosage increments desired. Based upon the population in the surrounding EPZ and given our desire for a greater ease in the distribution of KI, we are requesting that the entire re-supply be with 65 mg tablets. The total number of tablets needed is as follows:

460,000 population x 4 tablets (65mg) (pcr adult) = 1,840,000 65mg Tablets In regard to the delivery of this supply we would like to request a delayed delivery date for the stockpile.

Our agency is in the process of constructing a state pharmacy to house medications such as the KI currently being requested. A delayed shipment date would allow us time to ensure that the facility is ready to receive the shipment. The requested delivery timeframe we would prefer would be mid-to-late September 2007. If the requested timeframe becomes unrealistic, for your agency, we would be more than amiable to discussing a more mutually beneficial date, S() I,'IFI (:A .11 I.I N, I.)F.
