I am writing in regard to the maintenance of documents by your library related to the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff's review of the application submitted by Carolina Power & Light Company (doing business as Progress Energy Carolinas, Inc.) for the renewal of the operating license for the Shearon Harris Nuclear Power Plant, Unit 1, for an additional 20 years. The application was received by the NRC on November 16, 2006.The NRC staff appreciates your willingness to assist the public in participating in the licenserenewal environmental review process. As discussed, your support would consist of providing approximately two feet of shelf space in your reference section, which will be used for making documents related to the NRC staff's environmental review available to the public. We will place the West Regional Library on our distribution list for documents and notices related to the review of the Shearon Harris application. After the application review process is completed in approximately two years, you may dispose of these documents.Thank you for your cooperation.
