Supplemental Response to Generic Letter 2003-01, "Control Room Habitability" for the Davis-Besse Nuclear Power Station (TAC No. MB9796)
In a response to Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) Generic Letter 2003-01, "Control Room Habitability," for the Davis-Besse Nuclear Power Station (DBNPS) dated March 31, 2006 (Serial Number 3240), the FirstEnergy Nuclear Operating Company (FENOC) established the following regulatory commitment.
"FENOC will evaluate the incorporation of appropriate changes to DBNPS Technical Specifications following the resolution of NRC and Industry Issues and NRC approval of
[Technical Specification Task Force] TSTF-448, within 90 days after NRC approval" In a Federal Register Notice dated January 17, 2007, the NRC published a Notice of Availability of a Technical Specification improvement regarding control room envelope habitability using the Consolidated Line Item Improvement Process (CLIIP). The CLIIP endorsed Revision 3 of TSTF-448. Due to the issuance of the CLIIP, the above commitment is being revised. Modifications to the DBNPS Technical Specifications based on TSTF-448 will be requested as part of the planned conversion to the Improved Technical Specifications (ITS).
The ITS submittal is currently scheduled for July 2007. Any DBNPS-specific changes or variations will be identified in the Improved Technical Specification conversion submittal.
