Dear Mr. McNeil:
I am responding to your letter of March 19, 2007, in which you invited me to participate in an open meeting of the Arizona Corporation Commission (ACC). I agree that in this particular instance it would be appropriate for the ACC and I to share information related to the performance of the Palo Verde Nuclear Generating Station. I therefore plan to appear at the ACC meeting which I understand is scheduled for the morning of April 4, 2007. Joining me in attendance will be Messrs. Gregory Warnick, Senior NRC Resident Inspector at Palo Verde, Victor Dricks, NRC Region IV Public Affairs Officer, and William Maier, NRC Region IV State Liaison Officer. I look forward to an informative discussion at this meeting. Mr. Maier will work with you to coordinate the details of our attendance.
I also would like to invite the ACC Commissioners to the NRCs annual assessment meeting of Palo Verde scheduled for the evening of April 3, 2007. This is a public meeting at which both NRC and Arizona Public Service officials will appear and make presentations about Palo Verde performance and the expected milestones to occur in the next few months for both the facility and the regulator. I believe the Commissioners would greatly benefit from the information to be presented at the annual assessment meeting. The meeting will be held at the following location:
North Community Room Estrella Hall, Second Floor Estrella Mountain Community College 3000 North Dysart Road Avondale, Arizona 85323
