j.iit vV I ,, - Ir-, b5tdUZý I, ,JUlL1o0,M uy l 1 .... t-age z August 11,2006 Operational Status Indian Point Unit 2 is operating at 100% power and has been on line 85 days. Indian Point Unit 3 is also at 100% reactor power and has been on line 21 days.
Indian Point Security In light of the recently thwarted airline attacks in London, Indian Point Energy Center remains in a heightened state of readiness. The NRC has contacted the nation's nuclear plants; no threat has been made regarding any nuclear plant. The station has increased its vigilance implementing protective measures to supplement the existing security program, which currently includes, New York National Guard, New York State Naval Militia, and State Police posted full time on site.
Additional measures include:
- Contact and coordination with local and state law enforcement
- Allowing only vehicles necessary for essential operational duties to enter the protected area.
- Re-checking all Security equipment to ensure operational condition.
- Increased surveillance at the Main Gate and Access Control Points.
All employees and supplemental workers are screened and background checked before receiving badges, and all visitors are background checked and screened and require an escort while in the plants, even if access is granted. Access to protected areas on site require an X-ray search-of all hand carried items, a metal detector screening similar to that in an airport as well as screening for explosive materials. There have no specific threats against Indian Point. These measures are being taken in coordination with law enforcement agencies.
