I September 14, 2006 Operational Status Indian Point Unit 2 is currently operating at 100% power and has been on line for 22 days.
Indian Point 3 is operating at 100% and has been on line for 55 days.
Siren Test Conducted Yesterday All but two sirens in the 10-mile Emergency Planning Zone around Indian Point sounded successfully in a full volume test last night. The 7:30 p.m. test actuated all 156 sirens in the EPZ. Siren spotters were assigned to verify the function of the siren, i.e. determine whether the sirens sounded and rotated.
- Two sirens in Rockland County did not rotate properly and failed the test. A couple of sirens each in both Westchester and Orange counties had reported failures but were verified as operating satisfactorily by siren observers.
Entergy is replacing the current sirens with a new system that will include omni-directional sirens that will not require rotation. The new systems will also have a battery back-up feature.
Entergy has sent media advisories to the local media including TV News Channel 12, local cable access networks and community bulletin boards.
Entergy to Host Open House on Groundwater Investigation Oct. 5 Entergy and the Indian Point Energy Center will host an open house to present information about the ongoing groundwater investigation activities on Thursday, October 5 between 4 -8 p.m. The open house will be held at the Training Center onsite.
At open house experts on the groundwater investigation, radiation health effects and high resolution video inspection will be available to explain the program and answer questions.
