.......... . . 2. .i July 11,2006 Operational Status Indian Point Unit 2 is operating at 100% power and has been on line 55 days. Unit 3 was returned to service on Friday afternoon after a worn wire caused an electrical short, which signaled a relay device to trip the main generators. The Unit has been on line 5 days.
Entergy to Purchase Palisades Nuclear Plant from Michigan Utility Entergy announced today that it has reached an agreement to purchase the Palisades nuclear power plant in Michigan from Consumers Energy for
$380 million.
The purchase of the 798MW Palisades plant, expected to become effective in the first quarter of 2007, will bring to 11 the number of nuclear units owned by Entergy; the company also manages operation of the Cooper nuclear plant in Nebraska. After the acquisition, the generating capacity of Entergy Nuclear's fleet will total nearly 10,000 MW.
Entergy Nuclear Chief Executive Officer Gary Taylor stated that the agreement will strengthen Entergy's reputation as a nuclear operator.
Palisades will become the third Combustion Engineering pressurized water reactor in Entergy's nuclear fleet. Palisades began commercial operation in 1971 and is located in Covert, Mich., about 35 miles from Kalamazoo.
