SUBJECT:
LICENSE RENEWAL APPLICATION FOR THE WOLF CREEK GENERATING STATION, UNIT 1
Dear Mr. Garrett:
As discussed during a telephone conference held on October 31, 2006, Wolf Creek Nuclear Operating Corporation has informed the NRC that supplemental information for the Wolf Creek Generating Station environmental report will be provided to the staff to address the following:
Impingement, Entrainment, and Heat Shock [10 CFR 51.53(c)(3)(ii)(B)]
Assessment of the impact of the proposed action on fish and shellfish resources resulting from heat shock and impingement and entrainment.
Impacts on Instream and Riparian Communities [10 CFR 51.53(c)(3)(ii)(A)]
Assessment of the impacts of the proposed action on the flow of the river and related impacts on instream and riparian ecological communities.
The staff has determined that the above information is required to complete its acceptance review. Provided that the supplemental information is received by November 17, 2006, and deemed acceptable by the staff, the NRC will conduct the license renewal public meeting during the week of December 18th and the first on-site audit during the week of January 8th. If the supplemental information is not received by this date, or is not found to be acceptable, there will be further delays to the schedule.
If you have any questions on this matter, please contact me by telephone at 301-415-3703 or via e-mail at VMR1@nrc.gov.
Sincerely,
/RA/
