Document Control Desk Nine Mile Point Nuclear Station Unit No. 1; Docket No. 50-220 Special Report: Channel # 11 of the Containment Hydrogen Monitoring System Inoperable for Planned Maintenance In accordance with Action 4.a of Nine Mile Point Unit I Technical Specification Table 3.6.11-2, "Accident Monitoring Instrumentation Action Statements," Nine Mile Point Nuclear Station, LLC, is submitting the following Special Report concerning inoperability of Channel #11 of the Containment Hydrogen Monitoring (CHM) System.

Description of Event On September 18, 2006, at 0810 hours0.00938 days <br />0.225 hours <br />0.00134 weeks <br />3.08205e-4 months <br />, operators declared Channel #11 of the CHM System inoperable for performance of planned maintenance.

Cause of Inoperabilit, Channel #11 of the CHM System was declared inoperable for performance of planned maintenance.

Planned maintenance consisted of replacement of a range switch which allows for switching between different ranges of oxygen concentration on the chart recorder scale. The switch contacts were found degraded during previous surveillance testing.

Channel #12 of the CHM System was verified to be operable prior to removing Channel #11 from service.

Actions Taken The range selector switch was replaced, post maintenance testing was performed satisfactorily and Channel #11 of the CHM System was restored to operable status on September 18, 2006, at 1614 hours0.0187 days <br />0.448 hours <br />0.00267 weeks <br />6.14127e-4 months <br />.
