Letter from NRC to PWR Licensees dated March 28, 2006 On September 13, 2004, NRC Generic Letter (GL) 2004-02 requested Pressurized Water Reactor (PWR) licensees to evaluate emergency core cooling system and containment spray system recirculation functions in light of the information provided in GL 2004-02, and to provide the NRC a written response. On September 1, 2005, NMC committed to provide additional information on the replacement strainer design within 60 days of the acceptance of the final design. The Plant Operations Review Committee accepted the final design on August 3, 2006.
On February 9, 2006, the NRC issued a Request for Additional Information (RAI) associated with NMC response to GL 2004-02 (Reference 2). In accordance with the March 28, 2006, letter from the NRC to PWR Licensees (Reference 3), NMC intends to defer submittal of the final design information until it can be combined with the response to the February 9, 2006, RAI (Reference 2). In accordance with Reference 3, this response will be submitted by the end of 2006 for Unit 2 and by the end of 2007
