On October 4, 2006, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) received the Wolf CreekNuclear Operating Corporation's application for renewal of operating license NPF-42 for the Wolf Creek Generating Station, Unit 1. We are currently performing an acceptance review fordocketing in accordance with the requirements of Title 10 of the Code of Federal RegulationsSection 2.101 (10 CFR 2.101), and will notify you of the results of our review. Should the NRCstaff determine that the application is acceptable for docketing, a schedule for the review willthen be provided to you.We have enclosed for your information a copy of the notice relating to your application that isbeing sent to the Office of the Federal Register for publication.I am pleased to announce the appointment of Verónica M. Rodríguez as the project managerfor the safety review, and Christian Jacobs as the project manager for the environmental review of your license renewal application. The current operating license for WCGS, Unit 1, (NPF-42),expires on March 11, 2025. WCGS, Unit 1, is a pressurized water reactor designed by Westinghouse Electric Corporation that is located near Burlington, KS. The acceptability of thetendered application for docketing, and other matters including an opportunity to request a hearing, will be the subject of subs equent Federal Register notices.Copies of the application are available to the public at the Commission's PublicDocument Room (PDR), located at One White Flint North, 11555 Rockville Pike, Rockville,Maryland, 20852 or through the internet from the NRC's Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Public Electronic Reading Room under Accession Number ML062770300.
