Document Control Desk Nine Mile Point Nuclear Station Unit No. 1; Docket No. 50-220 Special Report: Inoperable Channel #11 of the Containment High Range Radiation Monitor In accordance with Action 3.a of Nine Mile Point Unit 1 Technical Specification Table 3.6.11-2, "Accident Monitoring Instrumentation Action Statements," Nine Mile Point Nuclear Station, LLC, is submitting the following Special Report concerning inoperability of Channel #11 of the Containment High Range Radiation Monitor (CHRRM).
Description of Event On August 28, 2006, at 1436 hours0.0166 days <br />0.399 hours <br />0.00237 weeks <br />5.46398e-4 months <br />, operators declared Channel #11 of the CHRRM inoperable because it was found to be out of calibration during performance of surveillance testing.
The redundant Channel #12 of the CHRRM was verified to be operable.
Cause of lnoperabilitv Channel #11 of the CHRRM was declared inoperable due to alarm setpoints found to be out of calibration during performance of surveillance testing. The alarm setpoint drift was approximately 7 percent above the normal value, compared to the allowable drift of 3 percent.
The likely cause of the alarm setpoint drift was degraded radiation monitor electrical connections.
Actions Taken Maintenance performed included cleaning of the radiation monitor electrical connections. Post maintenance testing was completed satisfactorily and Channel #11 of the CHRRM was declared operable on August 29, 2006, at 1507 hours0.0174 days <br />0.419 hours <br />0.00249 weeks <br />5.734135e-4 months <br />.
