Z Indian Point Energy Center Status Report June 20,2006 Operational Status IP2 is currently at 100% reactor power; the unit has been on line for 33 days and Unit 3 is operating at 100% reactor power and has been on-line for 259 days.
Vacuum Drilling for New Monitoring Wells Entergy is drilling 12 new wells in the next hase of the ground water investigation.
hese wells are located near Unit 1 to help haracterize the radioactivity associated ith the Unit 1 spent fuel pool. The picture t left shows a vacuum drill being used to emove the frst 5-7 feet before a drill rig ith a hard tipped bit is used for the ubsequent depth. Using the vacuum drill echniques helps reduce the potential to amage underground service lines.
NRC Commissioner Jaczko Sworn In Gregory Jaczko was formally sworn into as NRC Commissioner earlier this week by Chairman Nils Diaz in a ceremony at NRC headquarters in Rockville, Maryland, the
'NRC said today. Jaczko has served since January 2005 as a recess appointment to the commission, and was confirmed last month by the Senate to serve his full term which ends June 30, 2008. Commissioner Jaczko is shown at right during a recent visit to Indian Point.
