Dear Mr. Dietrich:
On August 1, 2006, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) received Entergy Nuclear Operations, Inc. application for renewal of Operating License No. DPR-59 for the James A.
FitzPatrick Nuclear Power Plant. We are currently performing an acceptance review for docketing in accordance with the requirements of Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations Section 2.101 (10 CFR 2.101), and will notify you of the results of our review. Should the NRC staff determine that the application is acceptable for docketing, a schedule for the review will then be provided to you.
We have enclosed for your information a copy of the notice relating to your application that is being sent to the Office of the Federal Register for publication.
I am pleased to announce the appointment of Tommy Le as the project manager for the safety review, and Samuel Hernandez as the project manager for the environmental review of your license renewal application. Please forward copies of all license renewal correspondence to Tommy Le and Samuel Hernandez. John Boska continues to remain responsible for NRC project management of all issues other than license renewal for FitzPatrick Nuclear Power Plant.

NOTICE OF RECEIPT AND AVAILABILITY OF APPLICATION FOR RENEWAL OF JAMES A. FITZPATRICK NUCLEAR POWER PLANT FACILITY OPERATING LICENSE NO. DPR-59 FOR AN ADDITIONAL 20-YEAR PERIOD DOCKET NO. 50-333 The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC or Commission) has received an application, dated July 31, 2006, from Entergy Nuclear Operations, Inc., filed pursuant to Section 104(b) (Operating License No. DPR-59) of the Atomic Energy Act of 1954, as amended, and Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations Part 54 (10 CFR Part 54), to renew the operating license for the James A. FitzPatrick Nuclear Power Plant. Renewal of the license would authorize the applicant to operate the facility for an additional 20-year period beyond the period specified in the current operating license. The current operating license for the James A.
FitzPatrick Nuclear Power Plant (DPR-59) expires on October 17, 2014. The James A.
FitzPatrick Nuclear Power Plant is a boiling-water reactor designed by General Electric. The unit is located near the town of Lycoming, New York. The acceptability of the tendered application for docketing, and other matters including an opportunity to request a hearing, will be the subject of subsequent Federal Register notices.
