SUBJECT:

ANALYTICAL RESULTS FOR THIRTY-SEVEN WATER SAMPLES, BATCH TWO, FROM THE VICINITY OF LaSALLE STATION, LaSALLE, ILLINOIS.

[INSPECTION REPORT NO. 050-00373/2006-0041 (RFTA NO.06-001)

Dear Mr. Snell:

The Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education (ORISE) received Batch two, consisting of 37 water samples, June 23,2006 which were collected in the vicinity of LaSalk Station in LaSaUe, Ihois. The original shipment contained 42 samples, but there was sample breakage during transient with five of the samples being returned to the licensee without being delivered to the laboratory. The five samples that were returned to the licensee bythe carrier were: L-06-2-10, L-06-2-18, L-06-2-19, L-06-2-22, and L 2-23. The laboratory staff was instructed to keep the sample identifications assigned to each sample by you and to proceed with the requested analyses for the 37 samples received. The 37 water samples were analyzed for tritium using a liquid scintillation analyzer. Sample L-06-2-09 had a statistically positive result for tritium. ORISE reanalyzed this sample to confirm the result. The result of the reanalysis was statistically equal to the first anal+.

The chain-of-custody identified seven water samples to be analyzed by gamma spectroscopy (GS). The sample identifications and collection data are presented in Table 1.

The GS data are presented in Table 2. The tritium data are presented in Table 3. The pertinent procedure references are provided in the specific tables.

ORISE's Quahty Control (Qc) tequirements were met for these analyses. The QC files are available for your review upon request. My contact information is listed below. You may also contact Wade Ivey at 865.576.9184 with any questions or comments.

Sincerely, RECEIVED JUL 2 4 2006
