IPEC status report for March 9 Note: Next siren test is on March 15

FOE IPEC status i_ qqlqr March 9 JohnWite-!PEsttu reorfo Mac 9 Pae Indian Point Energy Center Status Report March 9, 2006 Operational Status Indian Point Unit 2 is operating at 100% and has been on line 8 days. Indian Point Unit 3 is operating at 100% reactor power and has been on-line for 156 days.

Entergy to Conduct Volume Siren Test March 15 Test follows communications failure for sirens on March 8 test Entergy will conduct a full-volume test of the Indian Point emergency alert notification sirens in Westchester, Rockland, Orange and Putnam counties on Wednesday, March 15 between 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. WHUD Radio (100.7 FM) will perform a test of the Emergency Alert System immediately following the siren test.

During the test, all 156 sirens will sound simultaneously for about four minutes. The sirens will start at low volume and rapidly rise to full volume. Entergy plans on having spotters near the sirens during the test.

THIS IS A FULL-VOLUME TEST.

NO RESPONSE ON THE PART OF THE PUBLIC IS NECESSARY DURING THE MARCH 15 TEST.

During an emergency at Indian Point, the counties sound all 156 sirens simultaneously for four minutes at full volume, alerting the public to tune to their local Emergency Alert System (EAS) radio or TV station for important information. Sounding the sirens is a signal for residents to listen to Emergency Alert System broadcasts for important information.

Status Report Available on JIC Website The Indian Point status report is now available on the new Joint Information Center web site. The web site is part of the virtual news room concept that is being developed for public emergency information. The web site will also include the latest radiological release information for Indian Point.
