IPEC status report for Feb. 14 Indian Point Energy Center Status Report
I John White - IPEC status report for Feb. 14 Page 21g lLRoh Wht - IPEC-sttu reor fo Fe.1 Pn February 14, 2006 Operational Status Indian Point Unit 2 is operating at 100% and has been online 54 days.
Indian Point Unit 3 is operating at 100% reactor power and has been on-line for 133 days. Operations and maintenance crews are making plans for 2R17 refueling outage at IP2 scheduled to begin in April.
NRC Commissioner Jaczko to Visit Indian Point NRC Commissioner Gregory B. Jaczko will tour Indian Point and meet with senior management and employees on February 23. Jaczko joined the commision in January, 2005 and was an advisor to Senator Harry Reid (D-NV) on science policy matters. Dr. Jaczko earned a bachelor's degree from Cornell University and a Ph.D. in particle physics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Commissioner Jaczko will tour the spent fuel pool and turbine areas and be briefed on Indian Point issues including the siren replacement project and the tritium investigation. He will hold an employee meeting while at the site.

The topics we cover include Emergency Planning, Understanding Radiation, Nuclear Fuel and a general overview of the operations of Indian Point Energy Center. _3ypsum plant ND 2/4/06 lTrap rock Quarry ND MW 36 was sampled at multiple locations ND = None detectable for tritium The test results are generally consist with previous results for those wells that have a trend. The results for MW-36, which is the most recently sampled well from phase 1, are the first set of multi-level samples obtained from that well.
Split samples from the phase one monitoring wells were taken on Feb.7. Results have not been received yet from the NRC or DEC.
Construction continues on the phase 2 wells, which help characterize the site including IP1 and IP3.

There are no health or safety impacts to the public or workers from tritium on site.
Status Report Available on JIC Website The Indian Point status report is now available on the new Joint Information Center web site. The web site is part of the virtual news room concept that is being developed for public emergency information. Starting next week, the status report will be sent to the distribution list via the web site. The web site will also include the latest radiological release information for Indian Point.
