~Enter~gy Indian Point Energy Center Daily Status Report January 17, 2006 Operational Status Indian Point Unit 2 is operating at 100% and has been online 27 days.
Indian Point Unit 3 is operating at 100% reactor power and has been on-line for 106 days.
Indian Point Tritium Investigation The investigation into the source and extent of a tritium plume on site continues. The NRC is continuing its special investigation and oversight. Both installed wells and existing storm drains continue to be sampled. New wells are also being installed. The following is an update on the monitoring well program:
- The preliminary test results (raw water) from MW-32, a deep well located near the IP2 spent fuel building, showed small amounts of tritium-3720 pCi/L. This is a deep well (-200 feet) that will be sampled from multiple locations in what is known as a Packer test.
- MW-3 1, which is also located near the IP2 spent fuel building, has a temporary Packer assembly installed, and water samples have being taken at various well heights.
- Test locations inside the IP2 turbine building (MW-36137) have had preliminary vacuum evacuation completed. These wells will be drilled with a 13,000 pound diamond-bit - l .
Electric Drill. The drill rig is being _
staged in the turbine building with MW-36 as the first of the two to be drilled.
- MW-48, which is located at the south edge of site, has been vacuum evacuated and is ready to be drilled Electric drill that is being used to bore monitoring wells in the IP2 turbine building.
