SUMMARY

OF MEETING HELD ON APRIL 6, 2006, RE: EMERGENCY DIESEL GENERATOR FUEL OIL STORAGE PROJECT On April 6, 2006, Entergy Operations, Inc. (Entergy), the licensee for Waterford Steam Electric Station, Unit 3, met with the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff at NRC Headquarters in Rockville, Maryland. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss Entergy<s plans for fulfilling a regulatory commitment made during the extended power uprate review process, which was to improve the onsite fuel oil storage capability for the emergency diesel generators.

Entergy presented a design concept that would involve installation of two new 20,000 gallon non-safety storage tanks, which would increase the existing fuel oil storage capability to assure 7 days of diesel generator operation at full rated capacity, with a margin for testing. The new tanks and additional piping would be located underground and designed to withstand design basis hurricane and flood conditions. However, the new tanks and additional piping would not be designed to Seismic Category 1 requirements. The NRC staff indicated that its expectations were that the new tanks would be designed to the same seismic requirements as the existing fuel oil storage tanks. Entergy indicated that it would evaluate the options available and inform the staff of its intended course of action as soon as practical.
