Nuclear Regulatory Commission ATTN: Document Control Desk Washington, DC 20555-0001 Palisades Nuclear Power Plant Dockets 50-255 License No. DPR-20 Withdrawal of License Amendment Request to Support Use of M5 Fuel Claddinq By letter dated October 4,2005, Nuclear Management Company, LLC (NMC) requested Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) review and approval of a proposed license amendment for the Palisades Nuclear Plant (PNP). NMC proposed to revise Appendix A, Technical Specifications (TS), Core Operating Limits Report analytical methods referenced in TS 5.6.5.b, and the design features for fuel assemblies specified in TS 4.2.1.
On March 22, 2006, a meeting was held with the NRC Staff to discuss implementing M5 fuel cladding at PNP. The proposed license amendment request to support use of M5 fuel cladding was discussed. Based on the discussion, NMC is withdrawing the subject license amendment request. NMC is planning to resubmit the proposed license amendment request, with supplemental information, at a later date.
Also included in the letter dated October 4, 2005, was an exemption request from 10 CFR 50.46, and 10 CFR 50, Appendix K (TAC MC8576); NMC is not withdrawing the exemption request.
A copy of this withdrawal letter has been provided to the designated representative of the State of Michigan.
