PALISADES NUCLEAR PLANT, NRC INITIAL LICENSE EXAMINATION REPORT 050000255/2006301(DRS)
Dear Mr. Harden:
On February 7, 2006, members of the Palisades Nuclear Power Station Training staff administered the written examination on February 7, 2006, to one Reactor Operator (RO) applicant who had previously failed the written examination administered on May 31, 2005. The results of the examination were finalized on February 17, 2006, showing the applicant passed the written examination. The applicant passed the operating test administered the week of May 23, 2005, and therefore, has now passed all sections of the license examination. The enclosed report documents the results of the examination which were discussed on February 23, 2006, with Mr. G. Baustian, and with other members of your staff.
In accordance with 10 CFR Part 2.390 of the NRC's Rules of Practice, a copy of this letter and its enclosure will be available electronically for public inspection in the NRC Public Document Room or from the Publicly Available Records (PARS) component of NRC's document system (ADAMS). The operator licensing written retake examination was administered by the licensee in accordance with the guidance of NUREG-1021, Operator Licensing Examination Standards for Power Reactors, Revision 9.
Examination Summary:
A written examination was administered to one Reactor Operator (RO) applicant on February 7, 2006.
The applicant passed the written examination.
The applicant passed the operating test administered the week of May 31, 2005, and therefore has now passed all sections of his examination.
The applicant was issued the applicable operator license on February 28, 2006.

.1 Initial Licensing Examinations a.
Examination Scope The licensee wrote and administered an NRC approved written examination on February 7, 2006. The NRC outline and written examination was written and reviewed using the guidance established in NUREG-1021, Operator Licensing Examination Standards for Power Reactors, Revision 9.
b.
Findings There were no post-examination comments from the written examination. The applicant previously passed the operating exam that was administered during the week of May 23, 2005, and on Monday May 30, 2005. The applicant was waived the operating test. The applicant successfully passed the written examination.
.2 Examination Security a.
Inspection Scope The NRC examiners briefed the facility contact on the NRCs requirements and guidelines related to examination physical security (e.g., access restrictions). The licensee implemented examination security and integrity measures (e.g., security agreements) in accordance with licensee procedures.
b.
Findings No findings were noted in this area.
4OA6 Meetings
.1 Exit Meeting The chief examiner conducted a telephone exit meeting on February 23, 2006 with Mr. G. Baustian and other members of the Training Department staff.
