- All, I just spoke with a couple of people at the Marine Mammal Stranding Center in NJ. The seal mentioned by Nancy Erikson at the public meeting was considered a sighting, not a take. One guy remembered it as a harbor seal (while Bill Maher was told it was a harp seal), but he said it would not be odd for it to be a harp seal. The seal hauled out onto some rocks or something and eventually returned on its own. It was unharmed, and I get the impression that it did not interact with any plant equipment/structures.
Additionally, he told me that there was a dead bottlenose dolphin that floated in in 1994.
