OF THE MARCH 14, 2006, PUBLIC EXIT MEETING TO DISCUSS THE RESULTS OF THE NRCS CONFIRMATORY ACTION LETTER (CAL)
FOLLOWUP INSPECTIONS IN THE INSPECTION PROCEDURE (IP) 95002 ISSUES AND CORRECTIVE ACTION PROGRAM EFFECTIVENESS AREAS On March 14, 2006, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) held a public meeting at the Quail Hollow Resort in Painesville, Ohio. The meeting was between NRC Region III management and FirstEnergy Nuclear Operating Company (FENOC) management to discuss the results of the NRCs CAL followup inspections in the IP 95002 Issues and Corrective Action Program Effectiveness areas. The meeting notice, NRC presentation, and licensee presentation can be found in the Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) as ML060240491, ML060750738, and ML060750728 respectively. A list of principal NRC and licensee meeting participants can be found in the attached Enclosure.
The NRC began the meeting with a review of Perrys performance since entering the Multiple/Repetitive Degraded Cornerstone column of the NRCs Action Matrix. This was followed by an overview of the CAL and upcoming followup inspection activities. The results of the NRCs inspections of the actions implemented by the licensee to address problems in the IP 95002 Issues and Corrective Action Program Effectiveness areas were then discussed. As part of this public exit meeting, FENOC responded to the NRCs assessment and discussed the progress of improvement efforts in the areas of IP 95002 Issues and Corrective Action Program Effectiveness. At the end of the meeting, members of the public were given the opportunity to ask questions of NRC officials and FENOC representatives.
