In Reference 2, the NRC issued approval of the NMC QATR and an implementation date for Kewaunee was set for December 24, 2005. On July 5, 2005, Dominion Energy Kewaunee, Inc.
(DEK) acquired Kewaunee and the Kewaunee operating license was transferred to DEK. In Reference 3, Dominion fleet Nuclear Facility Quality Assurance Program Description Topical Report (DOM-QA-1) received NRC approval on September 9, 2005. As a result, in Reference 4, DEK stated its intent to implement the Dominion fleet Nuclear Facility Quality Assurance Program Description (NFQAPD) at Kewaunee rather than the NMC fleet QATR. In Reference 5, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission requested a follow-up letter that would clarify DEK's plans for changing the QA program at Kewaunee.
The purpose of this letter is to provide clarification regarding the planned changes to the Kewaunee Quality Assurance Program.
Dominion Energy Kewaunee plans to implement the Dominion fleet NFQAPD at Kewaunee.
Changes to the current Kewaunee QA program will be conducted in accordance with 10 CFR 50.54(a). The anticipated date for implementation of the approved Dominion fleet NFQAPD at Kewaunee is June 30, 2006.
