SUBJECT:

SUMMARY

OF DECEMBER 6 AND 7, 2005, MEETING WITH ENERGY NORTHWEST ON THE ALTERNATE SOURCE TERM AMENDMENT (TAC NO. MC4570)

On December 6 and 7, 2005, representatives of Energy Northwest (EN) met with the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff to discuss the alternate source term (AST) amendment.

This was a working level meeting intended to explain to the NRC staff EN's approach to the AST.

The NRC staff developed talking points for the meeting. These talking points are available in the Agencywide Document Access Management System under Accession No. ML053500327.

From these talking points and the meeting discussions, a request for additional information (RAI) will soon be developed.

The NRC staff appreciated the EN staff traveling and providing time to this effort. EN commented that the meeting was productive and beneficial to the completion of the amendment. EN looks forward to receiving an RAI and providing responses to address the NRC staff's questions. The NRC staff stated that follow-up communication may be required, so that the remaining issues can be resolved. EN was appreciative of the NRC staff's feedback.

An attendance list is provided in the enclosure.
