- CATAWBA SERVICE WATER PROJECT UPDATE - CATAWBA NUCLEAR STATION - DOCKET NOS. 50-413, 50-414
Dear Mr. Jamil:
This refers to the meeting conducted at your request at the Region II Office on December 07, 2005, at 10:30 a.m. The meetings purpose was to discuss your plans for the Catawba Service Water Project. Enclosed are a list of attendees and the presentation handouts.
It is our opinion that this meeting was beneficial in that it provided the NRC staff with the opportunity to discuss the ongoing station service water project. Topics covered included station performance, equipment reliability and the overall service water project. We acknowledge your commitment to work with the NRC to ensure that the unique plant configuration during the scheduled nuclear service water outages is well understood. The contingency action matrix you plan to develop prior to the start of the first service water system outage should help ensure that both you and the NRC understand the risk significance of potential system or component failures with one train of service water inoperable and what actions are needed to support plant operation.
In accordance with section 2.390 of the NRC's "Rules of Practice," Part 2, Title 10, Code of Federal Regulations, a copy of this letter and its enclosures will be placed in the NRC Public Document Room.
