SURRY POWER STATION, UNITS 1 AND 2 - FINAL ACCIDENT SEQUENCE PRECURSOR ANALYSIS OF OPERATIONAL EVENT INVOLVING UNANALYZED CONDITION RELATED TO LOSS OF REACTOR COOLANT PUMP SEAL COOLING DURING AN APPENDIX R FIRE EVENT
Dear Mr. Christian:
Enclosed for your information is the final Accident Sequence Precursor (ASP) analysis of an operational event that was identified as a result of a fire inspection conducted on January 24-31, 2003, and February 10-14, 2003, at Surry Power Station, Units 1 and 2. The condition was reported by Licensee Event Report No. 280-2003-005, dated December 17, 2003, and documented in U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) Inspection Report No.
05000280/2003008 and 05000281/2003008, dated February 2, 2004. This is being issued as a final analysis since it is a non-controversial, lower risk precursor for which the ASP results are consistent with the results from the Significance Determination Processs final evaluation of the same condition. Elimination of the review and comment resolution for this event will reduce the burden for the NRC staff and the licensee.
