Five of these 20 years involved licensing activities preparatory to the use of mixed oxide fuel in a Duke Power reactor as part of a Department of Energy project. Mr. Copp served as an officer in the U.S. Navy nuclear program for nine years prior to employment at Duke Power.

1999 - 2003 Senior Scientist - Duke Energy Nuclear General Office Lead responsibility for regulatory and governmental interfaces and approvals for the use of weapons grade MOX fuel in a commercial nuclear reactor. Developed and submitted licensing and permitting documents to NRC and DOE related to use of MOX fuel lead assemblies in Catawba Nuclear Station. Worked with Department of Energy on plant interface issues related to transportation and security of MOX fuel lead assemblies.

1993 - 1997 Manager, Nuclear Regul atory & Industry Affairs Duke Energy Nuclear Gi eneral Office Manager of regulatory af fairs oversight organizations in Duke Energy's nuclear business unit. This assignment included responsibility for preparation of regulatory filings, analysis and interpretation of regulatory documents, and routine communication and interfaces with various

1991 - 1992 Operations Training Duke Energy, McGuire Nuclear Station Assigned to the Operations Group at Duke's McGuire Nuclear Station for reactor operator training. This involved a total of 18 months of classroom training, in-plant practical training, research reactor training, and McGuire simulator training. Successfully passed NRC examination and obtained Senior Reactor Operator license.

1985 - 1991 Planning Engineer Duke Energy, McGuire Nuclear Station Managed the planning and scheduling of maintenance work at McGuire Nuclear Station as well as the operation of the station warehouses.

Responsible for maintenance of and improvements to the work control program procedures and software at McGuire.

1983 - 1984 System Maintenance Engineer Duke Energy Responsible for maintaining and improving the maintenance planning and scheduling systems for Duke's three nuclear stations.

1974 - 1983 Staff Engineer/Associate Engineer Duke Energy Primary responsibility involved interfacing with the Nuclear Regulatory Commission staff as part of obtaining the operating licenses for McGuire Nuclear Station, Units 1 and 2. This involved the development of revisions to the McGuire Final Safety Analysis Report and Technical Specifications, and responding to Nuclear Regulatory Commission issues by coordinating Duke legal, technical, and engineering resources.

Supported Duke's legal counsel during the Atomic Safety and Licensing Board hearings held as part of the licensing process. Served as the Duke Power representative on the Westinghouse Owners Group (WOG). In addition, served as chairman of the WOG Technical Specification subcommittee.
