-The final changes to the LGS 2005 ILT NRC OperatingExam have been completed, and are summarized below.
An integrated schedule is also provided, and reflects the final number and type of candidates that will be taking the exam.
The following changes have been incorporated for the Operating Exam:
Scenarios Scenarios 1,3, and 4 are provided for use. Since the number of candidates has been reduced to 11 (4 RO, 4 SROI, and 3 SROU), only two scenarios must be used to complete the simulator scenario portion of the operating exam. Scenario 1 is the low power scenario and is scheduled to be conducted on 1/10/05, and Scenario 4 is scheduled to be conducted on 1/11/05. Scenario 4 was selected over Scenario 3 due to having more opportunities for evaluation of the candidates.
Scenario 3 is provided as the spare. Revised ES-301-5 and ES-301-6 forms have been provided.
Assessment items in all three scenarios have been broken down into discrete action steps where applicable.
In Scenario 4, Event 4 was subdivided into Events 4 and 5, and Event 5 then became Event 6.
Admin JPMs The Admin JPM Activate the Fire Brigade was removed and replaced with Determination of Equipment Availability for Fire Safe Shutdown. This change is reflected in the revised page of ES-301-1 that is provided.
The Admin JPM ERP Classification and Reporting, which was based on a loss of DC power (SRO), has been replaced with an ERP Classification and Reporting JPM that is based on an ATWS condition.
The Admin JPM Interpretation and Application of Overtime Limits JPM has been revised to specifically require the candidates to determine who can stand the entire shift, and why/why not.
The Admin JPM Review Control Rod Exercise ST has been changed so that the as-found control rod position log does not match the as-found position recorded for that rod in the copy of the ST provided. All as-found positions recorded in the data sheets are the same as the corresponding as-left positions.
The Admin JPM Calculate Stay Time has been revised to provide a survey map for the candidate to determine dose rates instead of a dose rate being provided in the initiating cues.
System JPMs The System JPM Scram Channel A I and A2 Functional Test was removed and replaced with ST-6-107-880-1, APRM and LPRM Noise Level Determination.
This change is reflected in the revised page of ES-301-2 that is provided.
The System JPM Inadvertent Opening of a Relief Valve was revised to have E SRV open instead of K. Also, pictures of the inside of the panel where the fuses are located have been provided.

[Refer to Section D of ES-401 and Appendix B for additional information regarding each of the following concepts.]
Enter the level of knowledge (LOK) of each question as either (F)undamental or (H)igher cognitive level.
Enter the level of difficulty (LOD) of each question using a 1 - 5 (easy - difficult) rating scale (questions in the 2 -
4 range are acceptable).
Check the appropriate box if a psychometric flaw is identified:
8 The stem lacks sufficient focus to elicit the correct answer (e.g., unclear intent, more information is needed, or too much needless information).
0 The stem or distractors contain cues (i.e., clues, specific determiners, phrasing, length, etc.).
8 The answer choices are a collection of unrelated true/false statements.
8 The distractors are not credible; single implausible distractors should be repaired, more than one is unacceptable .
One or more distractors is (are) partially correct (e.g., if the applicant can make unstated assumptions 8
that are not contradicted by stem).
Check the appropriate box if a job content error is identified:
8 The question is not linked to the job requirements (i.e., the question has a valid WA but, as written, is not operational in content).
0 The question requires the recall of knowledge that is too specific for the closed reference test mode (Le., it is not required to be known from memory).
8 The question contains data with an unrealistic level of accuracy or inconsistent units (e.g., panel meter in percent with question in gallons).
8 The question requires reverse logic or application compared to the job requirements.
-Ch ck questions that are sampled for conformance with the approved WA and those that are designated SRO-only (WA and license level mismatches are unacceptable).
Based on the reviewers judgment, is the question as written (U)nsatisfactory (requiring repair or replacement),
in need of (E)ditorial enhancement, or (S)atisfactory?
At a minimum, explain any U ratings (e.g., how the Appendix B psychometric attributes are not being met).
