1726 M Street, N.W., Suite 600 Washington, DC 20036 In the Matter of DUKE ENERGY CORPORATION (Catawba Nuclear Station, Units 1 and 2)

Docket Nos. 50-413-OLA and 414-OLA

Dear Mr. Wetterhahn and Ms. Curran:

The Staff has reviewed the proposed settlement agreed to by Duke and BREDL. As we understand it, the agreement changes language in Catawba Security Procedure 213. Since the language in a security procedure is not required to be approved by the NRC, the Staff does not object to the settlement agreement.

Sincerely,

/RA/

Susan L. Uttal Counsel for NRC Staff
