Dear Sirs:

Subject:

Palo Verde Nuclear Generating Station (PVNGS)

Unit 3 Docket No. STN 50-530 First Revised NRC Order EA-03-009 - Control Element Drive Mechanism (CEDM) Nozzles Minimum Distances During a phone call on October, 20, 2004, Arizona Public Service (APS) was asked by the NRC to verify that the required minimum CEDM inspection distances for PVNGS Unit 3 identified in APS letter 102-05123, dated July 01, 2004, were achieved. This information was requested to support the NRC review of APS' request for relaxation from First Revised NRC Order EA-03-009.

APS has completed the Unit 3 CEDM nozzle inspection conducted during the current refueling outage (U3R1 1). The results of this inspection confirm that the minimum required inspection distances identified for Unit 3 in APS letter 102-05123 dated July 1, 2004, were achieved.

No commitments are being made to the NRC in this letter. Should you have any questions, please contact Thomas N. Weber at (623) 393-5764.

Sincerely, CDM/SAB/RJR cc:

B. S. Mallett M. B. Fields N. L. Salgado
