SENIOR REACTOR OPERATOR RETAKE EXAMINATION - ST. LUCIE
NUCLEAR PLANT - 05000335/2004302 AND 05000389/2004302
Dear Mr. Stall:
In a telephone conversation on October 20, 2004, between Mr. Tom Hunt, St. Lucie Initial
Training Supervisor, and Mr. Ronald F. Aiello, NRC Senior Operations Engineer, arrangements
were made for the administration of a re-take of the administrative topics part of the operating
test at the St. Lucie Nuclear Plant. The examination is scheduled to be administered on
December 21, 2004.
As agreed during the telephone conversation, your staff will prepare the administrative test
based on the guidelines in NUREG-1021, "Operator Licensing Examination Standards for
Power Reactors, Revision 9. The NRC regional office will discuss with your staff any changes
that might be necessary before the examination is administered.
Based on our phone conservation on October 20, 2004, please submit the administrative topics
part of the operating test outline in its final form by November 1, 2004. To meet the above
schedule, it will be necessary for your staff to furnish the examination and the supporting
reference materials identified in Attachment 2 of ES-201 by November 29, 2004. Pursuant to
10 CFR 55.40(b)(3), an authorized representative of St. Lucie shall approve the administrative
topics part of the operating retake test before it is submitted to the NRC for review and
approval. All materials shall be complete and ready-to-use. Any delay in receiving the required
examination and reference materials, or the submittal of inadequate or incomplete materials,
may cause the examination to be rescheduled. Your staff at St. Lucie has agreed to be
responsible for all duplication and exam administration efforts.
To permit timely NRC review and evaluation, your staff should submit the signed license
application (Office of Management and Budget (OMB) approval number 3150-0090), medical
certification (OMB approval number 3150-0024), and waiver request (OMB approval number
3150-0090) by December 1, 2004.
This letter contains information collections that are subject to the Paperwork Reduction Act of
1995 (44 U.S.C. 3501 et seq.). These information collections were approved by the Office of
Management and Budget, approval number Part 55 (3150-0018), which expires on June 30,
2006. The public reporting burden for this collection of information is estimated to average 500
hours per response, including the time for reviewing instructions, gathering and maintaining the
data needed, writing the examinations, and completing and reviewing the collection of
