__ Docket No. 50-220 Facility Operating License No. DPR-63 Plans for Submittal of Preliminary Decommissioning Cost Estimate Gentlemen:
This letter responds to the NRC letter dated September 16, 2004, regarding our plans for submittal of a preliminary decommissioning cost estimate for Nine Mile Point Unit 1 (NW 1).
10 CFR 50.75, "Reporting and recordkeeping for decommissioning planning," paragraph (f)(2),
requires power reactor licensees to submit, at or about 5 years prior to the projected end of operations, a preliminary decommissioning cost estimate which includes an up-to-date assessment of the major factors that could affect the cost to decommission. The current NMP1 operating license expires on August 22, 2009.
Nine Mile Point Nuclear Station, LLC, will submit a preliminary decommissioning cost estimate for NMPI, in accordance with 10 CFR 50.75(f)(2), by December 31, 2004.
