Dear Sir:
Entergy Nuclear Operations, Inc. and Entergy Nuclear Vermont Yankee, LLC (Entergy) hereby provides an updated commitment for submitting a response to NRC Generic Letter 2003-01 (Reference 1) for the Vermont Yankee Nuclear Power Plant (VYNPS). In its 60-day response (Reference 2) to GL 2003-01, Entergy committed to submit this report by September 30, 2004.
To finalize a complete response to the Generic Letter, Entergy noted that Vermont Yankee would be relying on the alternative source term (AST) licensing amendment which was submitted July 31, 2003 (Reference 3). Since Entergy has not yet received approval for this AST submittal, Attachment 1 provides an update to our commitment for the VYNPS.
No action on the part of the NRC is required.

Entergy will prepare and submit to the NRC, a written report summarizing the results of the initial actions described in Section 3 of NEI 99-03, Rev. I for the Vermont Yankee Nuclear Power Station (VYNPS). The report will:
- 1. respond to Section 1 of Generic Letter 2003-01, including subparts 1(a), 1(b) and 1(c);
- 2. include final responses to items 2 and 3 of Generic Letter 2003-01; and
- 3. include plans and schedules for the resolution of any significant discrepancies or conditions adverse to quality.
