MEETING ANNOUNCEMENT - PUBLIC MEETING-OCONEE NUCLEAR STATION DOCKET NOS. 50-269, 50-270 and 50-287
Dear Mr. Jones:
This letter confirms the telephone conversation between Mr. Jim Weast of your staff and Mr. Robert Carroll of this office on September 8, 2004, concerning a Regulatory Performance Meeting (Category One public meeting) which has been scheduled for October 4, 2004, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The meeting notice, which provides additional details, is enclosed.
The purpose of this meeting is to discuss the results of the supplemental inspection performed to assess your corrective actions associated with two White findings identified in the Mitigating Systems Cornerstone that resulted in Oconee Unit 3 third quarter 2003 performance being in the Degraded Cornerstone Column of the NRCs Action Matrix. The first White finding involved the inadequate installation of electrical connectors on the pre-staged Unit 3 high pressure injection pump emergency power supply cable from the auxiliary service water switchgear. The second White finding involved pressurizer ambient heat losses in all three Oconee units exceeding the capacity of pressurizer heaters powered from the standby shutdown facility. The supplemental inspection was completed on August 13, 2004, and the results were reported in NRC Supplemental Inspection Report 05000269,270,287/2004011, dated September 10, 2004.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.390 of the NRCs "Rules of Practice," a copy of this letter will be available electronically for public inspection in the NRC Public Document Room or from the Publicly Available Records (PARS) component of NRCs document system (ADAMS).
