Bart 415-2467 REVIEW OF DRESDEN 2 INSERVICE INSPECTION (ISI)

SUMMARY

REPORT FOR THE THIRD 10 YEAR ISI INTERVAL DOCKET NO. 50-237 By letter dated February 9, 2004, Exelon Generation Company (the licensee) submitted the final Third 10 Year Inservice Inspection (ISI) Summary Report for Dresden Nuclear Power Station Unit 2 (Dresden 2) in accordance with the plants Technical Specifications. A summary of the review is provided below.

Dresden 2s third 10-year ISI Interval began on March 1, 1992, and ended on September 30, 2003. All scheduled ASME Section XI examinations were completed prior to September 30, 2003, with the exception of Examination Category B-A reactor vessel shell welds and Examination Category B-O control rod drive housing welds. A delay of inspection of these groups of welds was requested by the licensee and was approved by the NRC staff.

Examination of these groups of welds was completed on November 11, 2003, short after the end of the third 10 year interval, and was included in the summary report.

As a result of the inspections, unacceptable indications were detected in 2 components in Examination Category C-B, and one in Examination Category D-B. They were all repaired, re-inspected and found acceptable.

During a visual inspection, it was noticed that one component in Examination Category F-A was different from the drawing. The licensee performed a review on the discrepancy and concluded that the as-found condition was acceptable. The drawing has since been revised accordingly.

The licensee stated that, other than the above, all components inspected were found acceptable. The licensee also stated that the inspection results, its findings and subsequent corrective actions, demonstrate that all components examined are functional and in compliance with Dresden 2s ISI program, its Technical Requirements Manual, and the ASME Code, Section Xl, 1989 Edition. The staff concludes that the licensee provided the information required by its technical specifications and that no additional follow-up was required
