Docket Nos. 50-361 and 50-362 Request For Additional Information San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station Units 2 and 3 Gentlemen:
Southern California Edison (SCE) submitted a request for changes to the Security Plans for the San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station (SONGS) on April 28, 2004.
Subsequently, the U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) Staff has begun a review of these plans that has resulted in a request for additional information (RAI) by letter from Brian Benney (NRC) to Dwight Nunn (SCE) dated July 9, 2004. The RAI covers the Staffs review of the SONGS Training and Qualification Plan. SCE's response to the RAI is given in the enclosure to this letter. In a telephone discussion between Messrs. Benney (NRC) and Pilmer (SCE) on July 27, 2004, SCE was asked to provide revisions to selected RAI responses on the SONGS Physical Security Plan that have been the subject of recent discussions between industry representatives and the NRC Staff. These revised RAI responses are also given in the enclosure to this letter.
Note that the enclosure to this letter contain safeguards information as defined by 10 CFR § 73.2. This transmittal letter may be decontrolled upon separation from the enclosure.
