Subject:

Vermont Yankee Effort Vermont Yankee is currently investigating an event dealing with unaccounted for special nuclear material (SNM). The material was last verified to be in the storage liner in 1979. Since then it was assumed to be in a liner it was placed in at that time. A recent boroscopic examination of the canister revealed that it was not where expected.

I have established a list of individuals from state agencies and other stakeholders that may want to get a periodic update of our efforts. If you got this message you are on my list.

To date a project team has been established. The key functions of the team will be to perform a Fuel Pool inspection, review of SNM inventory records, review of shipping records, perform extensive interviews and determine the root cause and appropriate corrective actions.

Please confirm that you are the appropriate person to receive this information and that you are interested in receiving these messages.

Thanks, Jim DeVincentis Manager of Licensing Entergy Nuclear Vermont Yankee 1
