- 2) Letter from John Lamb (NRC) to Thomas Coutu (NMC), "Kewaunee Nuclear Power Plant - Review of License Amendment Request No. 201 To Technical Specifications, Equipment Hatch And Control Room Post Accident Recirculation System (TAC NO. MC1790)," dated March 4, 2004 (ML040570239)
In Reference 1, Nuclear Management Company (NMC) proposed changes to the Kewaunee Nuclear Power Plant (KNPP) Technical Specifications (TS) associated with the containment equipment hatch. When this LAR was submitted, NMC planned to perform a tracer gas test to confirm Control Room unfiltered in leakage in June of 2004.
The tracer gas test date has been rescheduled to occur in December of 2004. As NMC would not have the results of the tracer gas test until the first quarter of 2005, NMC requests to withdraw the LAR and will resubmit the LAR with the test results incorporated.
Additionally, this LAR requested changes in the KNPP TS associated with the Control Room Post-Accident Recirculation System (CRPARS). KNPP License Amendment 166 (ML030210062) changed KNPP radiological accident analysis licensing basis, crediting the CRPARS during fuel movement. LAR 201 added the necessary requirements associated with the CRPARS to KNPP TS. As administrative controls are in place to ensure similar restrictions are placed on the CRPAS, and equipment credited in the superceded radiological analysis is still contained in KNPP TS, NMC plans to resubmit N490 Highway 42
