AGENDA MEETING WITH PACIFIC GAS AND ELECTRIC COMPANY JUNE 17, 2004 1.
Introduction and Background 2.
Discussion of result of following recent improvements in single failure proof crane weight requirements and NRC concerns regarding heat removal capacity in casks.
Replacing the fuel handling building (FHB) auxiliary lift with a single failure proof crane with no increase in weight capacity. Also eliminate cask drops in FHB.
Modifying cask restraint frame in the spent fuel pool.
Using a smaller transfer cask so that the cask can be handled vertically in the FHB and exit the FHB vertically.
Carrying the transfer cask vertically using the transporter instead of horizontally from the FHB to the cask transfer facility
Using the transporter for all lifting evolutions in the cask transfer facility instead of the screw jacking system.
Benefits of these changes to simply the cask handling equipment in the FHB, reduce the number of cask handling evolutions and improve heat transfer during cask transport activities.
