SUMMARY
OF 2004 ANNUAL ASSESSMENT MEETING WITH FPL ENERGY SEABROOK On April 12, 2004 at 3:00 p.m., an annual assessment meeting was conducted at Hampshire Inn, 20 Spur Road, Route 107, Seabrook, NH 03874, between the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and FPL Energy Seabrook, LLC (Seabrook). The NRC requested an Annual Assessment Meeting with Seabrook management to discuss NRCs assessment of the safety performance of the Seabrook nuclear power plant for calendar year 2003.
The NRC presented and discussed its assessment of the safety performance of Seabrook, Unit 1 for the period between January 1 through December 31, 2003. The NRC presentation included background on the unit, performance assessment results for calendar year 2003, an overview of 2004 planned inspections and oversight, and a discussion of general NRC issues.
The public observed this meeting and its accompanying question period and was offered the opportunity to communicate with the NRC regarding Seabrooks performance and the role of the agency in ensuring safe plant operations. This question and answer period lasted approximately an hour.
